What does PHEV Stand For?

PHEV stands for plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. Like a hybrid, a PHEV has an electric motor and a regular engine. The difference between a PHEV and a traditional hybrid is plug-in charging, where you plug your vehicle into an outlet to charge the battery.

What Makes the Outlander PHEV Different from Other Plug-In Hybrid SUVs?

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is the only plug-in hybrid SUV with Level 1, Level 2, and DC Fast Charging capabilities. Quickly recharge your vehicle’s battery at home or on the road.

How Does the Outlander PHEV Work?

The PHEV system employs two electric motors at the front and rear axles for increased efficiency and immediate torque. The high-capacity 13.8 kWh, lithium-ion main drive battery, built exclusively for the PHEV system, powers all-electric driving. The Outlander PHEV shifts to hybrid mode when extra power is required, employing a clean and efficient 2.4-litre gasoline engine.

Is Outlander PHEV Better for the Environment?

Yes! The Outlander PHEV offers eco-friendly driving with the EV mode. This allows the Outlander to run on 100% electric power, producing zero emissions and a low environmental impact.

What Is the Seating Capacity of the Outlander PHEV?

The Outlander can fit five passengers, including the driver.

How and Where Do I Recharge My Outlander PHEV?

You can recharge your Outlander PHEV at home using a standard 120V household outlet or a professionally installed 240V charging station. You can also take advantage of the 240V public charging stations or any DC Fast Charging Station while on the go.

How Long Does It Take to Charge the Outlander PHEV?

A Level 1 (120V) outlet takes less than eight hours; a Level 2 (240V) outlet takes less than four hours; and with a DC Fast Charging outlet, it takes about 25 minutes to charge up to 80%.

What's The Difference Between Level 1 And 2 Charging and DC Fast Charging?

Levels 1 and 2 charging requires using a dedicated charger for safe charging. These two charging options use the left electric charge port on the Outlander PHEV. Level 1 uses 120V, while Level 2 uses 240V. DC Fast Charging employs a gas pump-sized charger at stations for a rapid boost of up to 80% charge in 25 minutes.

Can All-Electric Vehicles Use the Same Type of Charger?

Level 1 and 2 charging is standardized, so yes. However, the Outlander PHEV is only compatible with charging stations for DC Fast Charge.

How Often Do I Need to Charge the Outlander PHEV?

Whenever it is needed, if you are travelling a long distance, it is encouraged to charge up your Outlander PHEV all the way to maximize the efficiency and power of the electric battery.

Do I Need to Install a Charging Station at Home?

No, standardized Level 1 chargers do not require installation and can charge up your Outlander PHEV in less than eight hours. If you prefer quicker charging speeds, then a Level 2 charger would need to be professionally installed to cut the charging time in half.

What Is the Range of the Outlander PHEV's EV Mode?

The 2022 Outlander PHEV can travel up to 38 kilometers in full-electric mode. However, frequent braking and higher speeds can reduce range, whereas driving in Eco Mode and using regenerative braking to help charge the battery may increase it.

What Warranty Is Offered for the Outlander PHEV?

As with all Mitsubishi’s, the Outlander PHEV has a comprehensive warranty package that drivers will love. Take advantage of five years (or 100,000 kilometers – whichever comes first) of factory New Vehicle Limited Warranty, plus 10 years (or 160,000 kilometers) of Powertrain Limited Warranty and five-year Roadside Assistance benefits with an unlimited mileage cap.
